it's called the life effect.

First I would like to say that I am not much of a music snob. (I like the Click 5! And Katy Perry I loooove Katy Perry. etc. ) (: Just that I try to post relatively less-mainstream artists/songs when I post here, because I don't see much point in expounding on all the popular songs that I love (Hot N' Cold! S.O.S! I'm Yours! etc etc etc) because, well, everyone would know them already. Yeaaaaa. (: So enjoy what I have to share today.

Stars - Life Effect (Haha, for some reason they're the band with the most tags on this blog? I wonder why.)
They make such beautiful music. I don't know why it's so beautiful. It's just...music I relate to deeply and it's, well, breathtakingly beautiful. (-vocab fail-) And, I'M GOING FOR THEIR CONCERT IN JAN! YAY WOOOO~

And so we disconnect,
The room grows quiet around us.
Nothing left to protect,
The end has finally found us.

The day is almost over,
It's almost time for bed.
So now you've finally lost me,
Rest your weary head.

Amy Winehouse - He Can Only Hold Her
I love her. I love her voice, her music, her style, her appearance (sue me, but I think she is beautiful). I wish she would clean up her life and save herself. It's heartbreaking that such pure talent should be destroyed by drugs, depression and hurtful love.

He can only hold her for so long,
The lights are on but no one's home.
She's so vacant, her soul is taken
He thinks 'What's she running from?'
Now, how can he have a heart, when it got stole?
So he tries to pacify her, 'cause what's inside her never dies.

Snow Patrol - How To Be Dead
I love SP (I want their new album! -is broke- :C) I love the lead's expressive voice, their clever yet sincere lyrics, their cathartic riffs, the sheer echoey, atmospheric beauty of their music.

Please take it easy it can't all be my fault
I haven't made half the mistakes that you've listed so far
Oh baby let me explain something, it's all down to drugs
At least I remember taking them and not a lot else
It seems I've stepped over lines you've drawn again and again
But if the ecstacy's in the wit is definitely out
Dr. Jekyll is wrestling Hyde for my pride.

Regina Spektor - Hotel Song
I love Regina Spektor. She's a Russian-turned-American alternative singer. (Notice, my previous two song introductions also started with "I love". Planning house camp has sapped all my creativity :C) She has incredible vocal range and versality. Woo. One song is not enough to appreciate the way her voice can go from light and fragile (like on The Call, the ending song of Narnia 2) to fierce and foreboding (check out Apres Moi for an eg). Yeah, anyway, this is one of my favourites from her. It's an adorable song. (:

I have dreams of orca whales and owls
But I wake up in fear
You will never be my, you will never be my dear
Will never be my dear, dear friend.

Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
I think everyone has probably heard this song at least once before. (: It's wonderfully sweet (bittersweet?).

And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight."

Erm. I'm probably not gna be very free for the rest of the holidays. (House stuff calls!) But I will try to make time on whatever date we come up with.
